The Washington catcher stepped into the batter's box 5 times against the Chicago (N) and delivered 5 hits.
It was a sensational game for him. He excitedly told the press, "Unbelieveable feeling. Unbelieveable. It felt good. It felt great. What a day! 5 for 5! It does wonders for your batting average, too."
L. Hannah singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off B. Sumter in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off R. Torres in the 9th.
This year Hannah is batting .291 with 15 home runs and 67 RBIs. He stopped them on 2 hits with no walks and 11 strikeouts.
His skipper said, "Once he gets in a groove, he can be dynamite. He was on top of his game in this one."
In 24 starts this year Davis has fashioned a 10-9 record and a 4.52 ERA. |  | Tuesday, August 3rd, 2032: Cadena Belts Bunch of Base Hits After the San Diego 15-4 victory over Washington and his 5-hit day shortstop Benicio Cadena told SION beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game is very good...three or four hits even better...5 or more are out of sight...and if it is in pro ball...it is really something special. It will get you in the record books."
The 29-year-old player gained that distinction today at San Diego Ballpark with a spectacular 5 for 5 game against the Washington Senators.
The skipper of the Padres spoke glowingly of Cadena, telling SION writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Benicio did that to perfection today."
B. Cadena hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off G. Miranda in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off D. Hawkes in the 8th and walked in the 9th.
