The Cardinals announced today that Ozzie Smith has been released from his position as manager of the St Louis Cardinals. Replacing him will be former Cardinals great Edward Foess.
Smith spent 10 full season as the Cardinals skipper, compiling a record of 748-872. The Cardinals captured 3 NL North crowns during his tenure, but have not been close to competing for the title since the 2026 season. The last two seasons were 100+ loss campaigns, including a disasterous 39-123 season in 2030. Smith will remain with the organization and has accepted a position in the front office.
(SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks tonight unveiled their new uniforms and logos featuring new colors -- Sedona Red, Sonoran Sand and black -- when D-backs players donned the updated garments with female fashion models at an invitation-only event at the Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale.
Sad news out of Cincinnati today. Pete Rose retired yesterday. Some say the losing took a toll on the soon to be 90 year old. Others say the drinking, gambling and hookers were too much of a distraction. Pete was happy he got a second chance to manage. Sadly it took until he was 89 years of age. Thanks for the memories Pete.
Taking over for Rose as manager will be Ryne Sandberg. Hall of Famer Sandberg will take over immediately.
Reds have cleaned house and it's now time for youth to be served.
The 2030 Playoffs will get underway on Wednesday, April 4th at 10:00 PM EST. Regular season complete! In the AL, big Boston will travel to an injury plagued Seattle - but will likely have to beat one of the leagues top pitchers in Eladio Huertas in order to advance. Meanwhile, the defending champion Chicago White Sox will host the AL Wild Card Texas Rangers.
In the National League, the Mets manged to hold off a charging Pittsburgh squad to win their second straight NL East title and will face the surprising San Diego Padres in the opening round. Having the best record in the National League didn't prove to be advantageous, as they'll have to face the Pittsburgh Pirates and Nick Wolf to start the series. Full schedule after the break.
